This commercial shows a Toyota Sienna coming out of a garage slowly and plays audio to indicate the minivan is being born.
The minivan market was a big one at this time, after Chrysler invented it, Honda had hit it big with the Odyssey. Toyota had limped along with adaptations of existing Japanese-market small vans that didn't quite resonate with the American buyer.
The Sienna was all-new and definitely influenced by the very successful Honda Odyssey. The Sienna would go on to do very well in the minivan market for several years including the critical boom years of the US minivan market.
This spot aired on FOX during a showing of the Simpsons on October 27th, 1997, the night of the premiere of Treehouse of Horror VIII (but during the showing of a different, older episode).
