In today’s video, I perform Path of the Wind from My Neighbor Totoro, composed by Joe Hisaishi. This beautiful and nostalgic piece perfectly captures the magic and innocence of Studio Ghibli’s world, with its flowing melodies and warm harmonies.
First introduced in the 1988 film, this theme has since become one of Hisaishi’s most beloved works, evoking a sense of adventure and wonder. In my piano arrangement I tried to maintain the dreamy and magical vibe of the original while including rich harmonies, chords and textures. You‘ll find that I made use of the entire range of the keyboard by crossing over with the left hand several times. I got the main inspiration for my arrangement by Jacob Koller‘s fantastic take on this piece. The sheet music is linked below if you‘re interested!
