Un Sospiro has been one of my favorite piano pieces for as long as I can remember.
I first fell in love with this piece when I was still a child, and it has stayed with me ever since. Even after all these years, there’s something about it that still gets me every time I play it.
I especially love the way the melody seems to float above these constantly flowing arpeggios. The music rises and falls in waves, sometimes almost weightlessly, before building into those huge, passionate climaxes that are so unmistakably Liszt.
It’s also one of those pieces that has changed for me over time. Coming back to it at different stages of my life, I’ve always discovered something new in it – and my interpretation has naturally changed along the way.
So I’m very happy to finally share this version with you.
