This experiment demonstrates torque transmission from a magnetic torsion pendulum to nine passive magnetic rotors. Each rotor is housed in a plastic cup and stabilized by friction from a towel base to minimize lateral drift and maintain alignment.

The pendulum consists of two neodymium ring magnets (3 cm outer diameter) suspended from a 29 cm elastic band. Unlike conventional torsion pendulums that rely on inextensible wires, the elastic band enables variable torsional strain accumulation and release. This configuration allows the pendulum to twist freely about its vertical axis, storing and releasing angular momentum.

An electronic driver powers the pendulum using a bistable multivibrator circuit composed of two transistors and bifilar air-core coils. As the pendulum swings, its North magnetic pole approaches a coil, inducing counter-electromotive force (CEMF) that triggers a polarity switch in the circuit. The coil then reverses polarity, generating magnetic repulsion that sustains rotational motion through inertial transfer.

The pendulum periodically reverses direction when accumulated torsional stress exceeds its moment of inertia. This dynamic interaction between magnetic force, torsional elasticity, and circuit switching enables continuous torque delivery to the surrounding rotor array.
This setup illustrates principles of electromagnetic induction, bistable switching, and mechanical energy transfer in a multi-body system.
