This video presents a Lego-engineered clock escapement regulated by a magnetically stabilized balance wheel. The wheel is mass-balanced and designed to oscillate between two stationary neodymium magnets, which provide a restoring force through magnetic repulsion. At rest, the wheel’s magnet aligns equidistantly between the fixed magnets, establishing a stable equilibrium point—visible at the 1 o’clock position when manually released from the red anchor.

During operation, the balance wheel initiates periodic motion that interacts with the escapement’s exit pallet, advancing the escape wheel incrementally. This interaction delivers timed impulses that sustain oscillation and regulate the release of mechanical energy from the driving weight.

This configuration demonstrates principles of harmonic motion, magnetic feedback, and impulse-driven regulation using modular Lego components.

Special thanks to @BenVandeWaal for reviewing the earlier prototype and contributing valuable insights on timing calibration and mechanical adjustment.
