On July 18 2019 While editing video for my next Tornado Science segment, just after getting done with my normal job, A thunderstorm developed very quickly and dropped a tornado near Crooks, SD, and was visible from my front yard. Awesome! Thunderstorms were expected much further east and tornado chances were quite low over in this area. These are some of the hardest days to forecast tornadoes as typical summertime thunderstorms might produce at any moment and without any synoptically evident features in the atmosphere. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! lol! Exactly 364 days ago, in Iowa, I stumbled upon the Pella, IA tornado much the same way, I just so happened to be there when it happened. July is a funny month I guess.
