The base of CNC workholding is a solid vise. Tormach offers three options.
The 5 in. Machinist Vise Specifications:
5 in.(127mm) jaw width
Constructed with 80,000 psi (550,000 kPa) ductile cast iron
Flame-hardened vise bed
Non-lifting moveable jaw design
Compatible with industry-standard jaw plates
7/16-14 in. hole in fixed jaw for workstop (optional; sold separately)
1/2-13 in. holes on bottom for anchoring stationary jaw
All machined surfaces are square and parallel within 0.001 in. (0.025 mm)
High-quality powder coat paint on non-critical surfaces
Concealed lead screw
Needle bearing facilitates greater clamping pressure and ease of use.
Machined steel handle
Machined slots for vise keys (optional; sold separately)
Made in the Taiwan

4 in. CNC Vise Specifications:
Precision ground cast iron construction
Lockdown design eliminates "jaw lift" of moveable jaw.
3/8-16 UNC tapped holes (x4) accept standard 4 in. jaw plates for inside or outside jaw placement.
5/16 in.-18 UNC tapped hole (x1) located on fixed jaw for attaching a workstop, etc.
Generous clamping slots allow for secure and versatile placement of vise on table
.390" (10 mm) keyway slots on bottom face with 10-32 UNF tapped holes (x6). Can be used for vise keys (optional, not included) or for attaching vise to fixture plate, etc.
Includes all necessary clamping hardware for attaching to 1/2 in., 3/8 in., or 10mm T-slots.
Includes bridge clamp for compact side by side mounting of 2 vises.
Includes cast iron vise handle
