For Round 1 of the Who We Are Contest [WWAC] by thesongcontinues (youtube.com/user/cutiegemma123/)
For this round we make a happy video explaining why we love our character.
Last semester's class stress messed me up enough for me to rediscover my old friend Tony Stark and all this new angst he's experienced in Cap 3: Civil War + all the killer meta out on tumblr on how he's such a Tragic Hero, pushing himself so hard to do the right thing that it's quite literally killing him. Some parts of fandom think he's only out for himself but everything he's ever done is try to protect the world with the undeniable resources he's got + to make up for the mistakes he's made in the past. #TonyStarkDefenseSquad
His heart and soul just shine so bright amidst his own darkness and failures and it just hits me so personally sometimes. Plus his intense sense of responsibility/sacrifice and vulnerable humanity remind me a lot of my other faves – the Tenth Doctor, Luke Skywalker, and Hiccup. Ah. My heroes...
Anyway, this was a "happy vid" for the first round of the contest explaining why I love Tony. While most recent Tony vids are deep in angst I chose to make this one more upbeat, focusing on Tony's cheekiness, utter dorkery, inventiveness, and badassery (I'm SO here for the only-partially-armored/IM3 aesthetic lol). Anyway, the last scene in this vid pretty much sums up the happy side of why I like him LOL. (also did you catch the post-CW Pepperony angst in the midst of all this happy? Honestly poor Tony!!)
I've always wanted to be part of a character contest so this was TOTALLY exciting to do (even if Premiere Pro decided to be a beast to me this time around).

First off, I know Im late to posting your gift, HT94! Inspiration for an HTTYD vid was slow in coming and then classes started up again and I was hard-pressed (hence the month since last upload!). Today is Whispers birthday and I didnt want to miss another of my friends birthdays *again* so I hope you dont mind a shared dedication (as well as you, Whisper). Ill be better next year. Promise!

About the vid. First of all, Im sorry this isnt really as personalized a vid as Ive made before for you. I still (unfortunately) havent seen Zootopia or youd be sure Id have vidded that for ya! Anyway, this one does feature a video game song, maybe that counts for something LOL. (tho I dont think youve played Skyrim...) The concept was one I was still inspired to do from a long time ago, Hiccup as the Dragonborn, all authoritative and mysterious. The mood pulls on major Cressida Cowell strings, plus the incredible growth hes experienced in HTTYD2. Chief Hiccup Haddock the Third, King of the Wilderwest. (Couldnt bring myself to read that last book yet, dont spoil it anyone haha!). The one sad section supposed to reflect the tragedy that classically is required for the forging of a Hero, and certainly definitive of Hiccups arc. I hope you like it, hon, even if its more about Hiccup than Toothless (oop).

This art took me more than a month to do, and it’s an absolute labor of love for this man and everything he’s gone through. Because this episode broke me. Jon being psychologically tortured for 6 months, forced to be hated by everyone he’s ever talked to, denied agency in his own life because this thing just won’t let him die—and he wanted to so badly, running into the Buried both in his dreams and in reality, trying to escape the Eye. But he’s denied even the choice to retain his humanity. 💔 They will never make me hate you, Jonathan Sims.
