Seven Divided by Three - 3:7 Polyrhythm Hybrid
I’m just a beginner, but I LOVE polyrhythms, so occasionally I try to tax my brain to figure things out. I realize this isn’t particularly fast, but it has kind of an interesting character at this slow tempo (plus it helps lock in good muscle memory!).
Taking septuplet figures (RRLRLRL) and subdividing every three notes on the bass drum. It’s actually a cool polyrhythmic pattern.
I thought this particular orchestration sounded cool on the right side toms like this: they create their own polyrhythmic “melody” against the other rhythms.

Here is a run through of the first half of a song Im working on. Its a transcription of a song recorded by Dutch teen singer, Heintje, in 1971. Its called, Abend Wird Es Im Tal I need to have someone translate that, but I think its something about the valley in the evening. I think its a great song and sounds great on the trumpet.
