This very interesting nesting was different from other hornbill species in that not only the male partner, but the "whole village" took part in feeding duties!
The incubating female was sealed inside the nest hole.
Two of the hornbills appeared to be standing guard, while the rest of the hornbills took turns at feeding the female through the narrow slit created over the sealed nest opening.
This was an accurate observation, as this species is described as practising cooperative breeding.
These accessory hornbills are possibly immatures (from previous clutches) or adults (relatives)
Tickell's Brown Hornbills are also known as Rusty-cheeked Hornbills.
They are endemic to south Myanmar and west Thailand.
Their conservation status is listed as Near Threatened, largely due to loss of their natural habitat of primary forests.
