Talking about inflammatory bowel disease I see 3 angles to treatment. Remember, this condition is multifactorial and there are a lot of root causes, a lot of drivers. The one size all approach doesn't work for everyone.
Number one is a dysregulated immune system, whether it's bacterial overgrowth or tissue damage or both. This calls in parts of the immune system and mounts an inflammatory response which is angle two, decrease and modulate the inflammatory cascade.
The last big piece is the microbiome. Right here we can see the microbiome in the small and large bowel is touched up right against that immune system, setting off that immune system, which triggers the inflammation, and around you go in a vicious cycle.
