The island of Bohol in the Philippines is full of awesome sights, and we're taking to a tour to see them. Firstly, the Chocolate Hills are one of the most unique land formations I have ever seen. They are limestone karsts covered in soil and grass, and shaped like a perfect little hill. There are around 1500 of them on Bohol, but the best views of them can be seen from the Chocolate Hills Viewing Deck.
Secondly, we visited the Bohol Tarsier Conservation Area where we could see tarsiers in the wild. Tarsiers are a very unique primate. They're alien-like in appearance, and kind of gross.
After that, we visited the Bilar Man-Made Forest, which is a great spot to get photos.
But the highlight of the tour for me was the lunch buffet boat cruise. The food was great. The band was excellent. The river was beautiful. At one point, the boat stops and a group of locals, the Gotozon Balsa Performers, show off their singing and dancing. They perform a dance called tinikling - where bamboo poles are used to create a beat, and as a obstacle to dance around. They even bring some people up on the stage to teach them the dance. It's very festive and a lot of fun.
Lastly, we stopped at the Baclayon Church, one of the oldest churches on Bohol, and one of the oldest coral stone churches in the Philippines. It's gorgeously painted ceiling is definitely worth the visit.
Bohol, Philippines is a beautiful place that offers full day tours that are packed with sights. Don't miss it.
