Dropping the price without changing the scope is one of those mistakes that feels generous in the moment.

I’ve done it and I can't tell you how frustrated I was after doing it (for the second, third, and fourth time thinking the outcome would be different).

Prospect likes the offer, budget gets tight, and you think, “Alright, I’ll knock a few hundred bucks off and make this easy.”

And even though it feels like the kind thing to do, that’s not kindness.

That’s you quietly telling them the original price was negotiable for no real reason.

And now the work you valued at one number is suddenly worth less, even though nothing about the work changed.

The better move is to keep price connected to scope.

If the budget changes, the deliverables change.

The standard required to deliver well does not magically get cheaper because someone asked nicely.

Discounting without adjusting scope usually creates resentment on one side and confusion on the other.

Price can move if scope is moving with it.
