Originally opened in 1975 and revived in 2024 by second generation owner David Zimmerman, Sammy’s Roumanian Steak House returns to the Lower East Side with the same lively spirit that made it a legendary downtown institution for decades. Known for its late night singalongs, tableside schmaltz, and frozen vodka bottles carved into blocks of ice, the restaurant blends classic steakhouse dining with the unbridled (slightly chaotic) energy of a family celebration.
