In this Open House home tour, come see how international architect Crina Arghirescu Rogard transformed the penthouse of the American Thread Building in Tribeca into a contemporary residence designed for entertaining and daily living. Upon entering, guests encounter a welcoming foyer framed by large windows and highlighted with Claudia Bez’s latest artworks. The main living space accommodates quiet mornings, casual conversations, and lively gatherings, all while retaining original architectural elements including the ceiling, columns, fireplace, and wall paneling. Custom window seats invite residents and guests to pause and enjoy views of the surrounding cityscape.
The salon balances functionality with sculptural furniture, featuring stackable tables color-matched to a commanding artwork, a Dreaming of Joe armchair, and Claudia’s chairs, designed to encourage intimate conversation. A yellow chair inspired by Romanian mythology references local folklore and the nocturnal celebration of supernatural beings, aligning with the clients’ love of hosting.
Bedrooms are also designed for comfort and visual narrative. A throw inspired by Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s poem “How I Love Thee” complements the carefully placed bed, which supports proper posture while floating among art pieces. Tables, textiles, and muted color schemes create a calm environment, while collectible furniture and sculptural pieces maintain a dialogue with the building’s historic architecture.
