Café Momentum is creating a new vision for juvenile justice.

The Dallas-based restaurant only hires justice-involved youth. Now the model is going national, with new restaurants soon opening in Nashville and Pittsburgh.

Founded by chef Chad Houser, his nonprofit organization, Momentum Advisory Collective, works with local court systems, juvenile centers, high schools, and social services in order to reduce the recidivism rate of the 728,000 youth that enter the system every year.

This Stand Together video looks at how Houser’s chance encounter with the juvenile justice system gave his own life a renewed sense of purpose, and how he hopes to help youth across the country achieve the same in their lives.
