A Day of Small Things | This is Vanity Fair | Publishing History, Fashion & Chiswick Mall @adayofsmallthings | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray was published in the same year as many other familiar classic titles. It must have been a truly amazing time to be alive! The story was written for a Victorian audience but was set in the late Georgian era. Have you heard the author's rather strong dislike of the beloved Jane Austen fashion (with his own satirical sketch)? Plus a tour to West London in search of Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley's school in chapter one. Thanks for joining!

Just in case you're curious, I put together the short film at the beginning using stock video footage. I felt very fortunate to find the STUNNING videos (as well as the thumbnail image) by cottonbro. Not only are they masterfully directed and filmed, even the characters and the story seem to be tailor-made for Vanity Fair. The music is 'Russian River' by Dan Henig. Thanks so much you talented creative people!
