A Day of Small Things | This is Vanity Fair | Character study on Becky Sharp, Johnson's Dictionary & a trip to Barter Books @adayofsmallthings | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Becky Sharp from 'Vanity Fair' by William Thackeray stands out among many Victorian heroines, who famously threw a copy of Johnson's Dictionary through the air. We're going to do a character study on Becky in the first two chapters of 'Vanity Fair' and have a look at the history of A Dictionary of the English Language by Dr Samuel Johnson. We'll end our time with an evening stroll among the fabulous shelves in Barter Books, where I found some old treasures!
