This is one of the biggest problems with the modern prophetic movement. So many “prophetic words” are not really about God’s glory, the gospel, or the health of the church. They are about money. They are about seeds. They are about promotions. They are about houses, cars, checks, debt cancellation, business deals, and sudden increase. And somehow, those words often come right before or during an offering.
That should concern every Bible-believing Christian.
Biblical prophecy never functioned as a fundraising gimmick. The prophets in Scripture were not manipulating people into giving specific dollar amounts in exchange for a blessing. They called people to repentance, warned against sin, exposed false worship, proclaimed God’s judgment, and pointed people back to covenant faithfulness. But today, many so-called prophets use “prophecy” as a way to excite people emotionally and get them to empty their pockets.
Valerie Moore’s pattern needs to be tested by Scripture. Is this really prophecy, or is it prosperity preaching dressed up in prophetic language? Is this the Holy Spirit, or is this hype? Is this biblical encouragement, or is this financial manipulation?
The Bible is clear: giving should never be done under compulsion. God loves a cheerful giver, not someone pressured by fear, promises of multiplication, or a preacher’s so-called prophetic declaration. When money becomes the center of the “word,” the people of God need discernment.
