David Taylor’s case just got WAY worse.
New court filings and recently discussed evidence raise even more serious questions about what investigators allegedly found while reviewing Taylor’s electronic devices. According to the material discussed in the filing, prosecutors said the possibility of child sexual-abuse material was “not a hypothetical concern” in this case.
The filing reportedly describes a 2024 exchange where Taylor allegedly asked a teenage female member to send him sexual pictures. She warned him that some of the older images were from before she was of age. According to the filing, Taylor still asked to see them and continued requesting older pictures and videos. Investigators also reportedly found partially nude images on at least one of Taylor’s devices that may have been taken while she was underage.
That is a massive development.
And this comes while Taylor and other defendants are already facing serious federal allegations involving forced labor and money laundering. The amount of discovery in this case is enormous: hundreds of thousands of pages, dozens of electronic devices, financial records, surveillance footage, audio recordings, photographs, and tens of terabytes of digital evidence.
What makes this even more unbelievable is that Taylor’s supporters and legal representatives have publicly told people that they reviewed the evidence and that “there is no crime here.” They have framed this prosecution as an attack on Christianity, compared Taylor’s imprisonment to the suffering of Paul and Job, and repeatedly encouraged followers to continue standing behind him.
Meanwhile, the ministry is still asking people for money.
In one recent service, supporters were encouraged to sow amounts such as $1,000, $10,000, $15,000, and even $20,000 toward Taylor’s future vision and university. People who did not have the money were told they could make a vow and trust that God would provide it. Giving was even presented as a spiritual test: if you cannot lay down your money, how will you supposedly lay down your life when God comes?
This is exactly why Christians need discernment.
Supporting a preacher is not the same thing as defending the faith. Questioning a religious leader is not an attack on Christianity. And criminal allegations do not suddenly become persecution simply because the accused person calls himself an apostle.
