How did you sleep last night? 🛌 The answer matters because sleep affects brain health 🧠 😮
A recent study published in the online issue of Neurology found a link between poor sleep quality and signs of brain aging. 😬 The study involved 589 participants over the course of 15 years. The researchers discovered that people in their 40s who consistently had 3 or more of the following sleep issues:
❌ bad sleep quality
❌ difficulty falling asleep
❌ difficulty staying asleep
❌ early morning awakenings
had a brain age 2.6 years older by the time they were in their 50s, compared to those in the study who regularly received quality sleep. 😳
Poor sleep has also been linked over the years to so many issues including:
⬇️ suppressing immune system function
⬇️ destabilizing hormones
⬇️ irritability and poor recall
and much more
But we don’t have to accept this destiny! 👍
Here is what I do to set myself up for consistent, quality, restorative sleep.
💤 I wear blueblockers after sunset 😎
💤 I get off screens one hour before bed
💤 I keep my room cool
💤 I charge my phone in another room
This is my short list ☺️ Any questions?
