A sales point on 3D printing is that it produces far less waste products compared to subtractive manufacturing. This is absolutely true. Misprints and brims make up the bulk of the waste.
In this shorts I show a comparison of how much waste is produced compared to the filament I've consumed.
The box has about 5 lbs (2 kg) worth of misprints, brims and other printing waste. Compare that to to the 11 kg of PLA printed, and the waste is about 18% of production.
In the future I'd like to grind it all down and recycle it into new PLA filament.
