Let me introduce you to a legal, yet highly addictive substance called Moma (which is similar to Betel Nut consumed in other Asian countries). Moma is very popular in the Philippines, many Filipinos chew it on a daily basis and as a foreigner traveling in the Philippines, I have decided to try it myself. Betel Nut is also very famous in other countries in Southern Asia, however, Moma is made using different ingredients.
Due to the fact Moma is very cheap and makes you feel drunk quickly, it became very popular around the Philippines. However, it is highly addictive and can be bad for your health. Me and my local Filipina guide Rose are only trying it once for the experience. We want to see our reactions to trying moma for the first time and how it will make us feel, to understand why it is so popular around the Philippines.
