Solo Adventure Through The Worst SLUM in Cebu (Philippines) 🇵🇭 Ola Lily 2023-07-24 | I’m going on a solo adventure through the Cebu slum, which is considered to be the worst slum in that area of the Philippines.Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan, located in Cebu, is known for its poverty, overpopulation, and high crime rates. The poverty has worsened since Super Typhoon Odette, known internationally as Typhoon Rai, hit Cebu and other Philippines islands in December 2021, leaving people without homes and shelter. Despite the challenges faced by its residents, the community is slowly recovering and the people have remained friendly and hospitable. In this video, I take you on a solo journey through the narrow streets of Cebu to show you the real-life experiences of the locals from this island.I walk through the streets of Cebu alone and encounter poor neighborhoods and destroyed houses (yet expensive cars), but the community is very friendly and welcoming. I talk to the locals about their experiences, their day-to-day life, and how their lives have been affected by the typhoon and other natural disasters that have happened in the area.I hope in this video I have managed to accurately show the positive aspects of the community, such as its kindness and solicitude. The Filipino culture, once again, has made me feel welcome, included and is foreigner friendly. It was heartbreaking for me to hear about the unfortunate circumstances they’ve been put through due to Super Typhoon Odette. Turns out that getting sick in the Philippines is common, but it was quite scary for me because I am traveling solo. There are many things to watch out for when you travel, for example, a friend of mine had a parasite and was admitted to the hospital. Things to avoid in the Philippines. I used to think that the only possible way of living and working was to stay in one place and only travel when you are able to take time off work. I felt stuck in one country, without feeling like there was a way out. After landing in Preveza, Greece, I got the bus to Plataria on the Greek mainland from which I will be starting the sailing journey. The first stop is Corfu Island. The Ionian Sea is the easiest and the best place for a beginner sailor. This is going to be a complete North To South Ionian sailing flotilla for 2 weeks. I will first set sail and head to the historical Corfu town. This time I am sailing on an old Beneteau yacht, which is not my favourite and I end up having a lot of problems with it. Inside the Most Historical Places in Thailand (Kanchanaburi and Ayutthaya) Ola Lily 2022-10-24 | Thailand is full of fascinating history from ancient ruins to more recent wars. The Ayutthaya Kingdom, The Death Railway (Burma Railway) in Kanchanaburi, The Bridge on the River Kwai and Erawan Waterfall National Park are full of stories and all tell us more about the history of Thailand. In this video I go inside the most historical places in Thailand.The Ayutthaya Kingdom was a Siamese kingdom that existed in Southeast Asia from the 1280s to 1767 and it was centred around the modern-day city of Ayutthaya. It was the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. During the 14th to 18th centuries, it grew to be one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas and a center of global diplomacy and commerce. The Burmese destroyed it in 1767, burning most of the city to the ground and enslaving any remaining citizens. Nowadays, Ayutthaya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historical park offers ancient temples and ruins such as Buddha Head in Tree Roots, Wat Mahathat. I opted for a guided tour as I wanted to learn more about the history of this place and didn’t want to miss out on any of the important sites.The Death Railway in Kanchanaburi also known as the Burma Railway was built during World War II for the Japanese army, which forced local labourers as well as prisoners of war to build 415km of railway connecting Burma to Thailand. During WWII, the Imperial Japanese Army had taken over Southeast Asia and accumulated tens of thousands of skilled and healthy prisoners of war. Over 100,000 people died during its 16-month construction between 1942 and 1943. The lack of hygiene, inadequate medical supplies, and regular beatings from Japanese and Korean guards made for abysmal working conditions. Most died from exhaustion, dysentery, infection, and malnutrition.Later we made a decision to spend a few hours at the Erawan Waterfall National Park. This national park is one of the most popular in Thailand and offers unique and picturesque waterfalls, where you can swim. There are seven tiers and levels in total to get to each waterfall and require a hike. Inside the Prostitution and Brothels Capital (Pattaya, Thailand) Ola Lily 2022-10-18 | Pattaya in Thailand is the capital of prostitution, brothels and go go bars. You can see prostitutes, ladyboys and strippers everywhere you look around Pattaya, particularly the Walking Street. I went there during the day and in the evening and I share with you what I saw (the nightlife). Unfortunately, girls for sale are a common sight in Thailand. I’ve already seen prostitution happening in Patong, in Phuket, but Pattaya is even less hidden. It’s important to remember that a Thai gogo bar is a brothel, not just a strip club and it offers prostitution services, often for an extremely cheap rate, according to the locals I have spoken to, the girls charge as little as $10 a night, but of course, the price varies depending on the place. However, I didn’t want to focus this video only on prostitution, as I believe there is a lot more to Pattaya than the nightlife. I also show you the things to do around Pattaya, the Pattaya beach, hike to the city sign and even a boat trip to a nearby paradise island – Koh Larn. Inside Bangkok’s Most Dangerous Hood (Thailand’s Ghetto) 🇹🇭 Ola Lily 2022-10-13 | I arrived to Bangkok and stayed at the most dangerous hood in Bangkok – this is what you should watch out for and how to avoid scams in Thailand, or even more serious crime. While staying in the popular Khaosan Road area, I was a victim of harassment, name-calling and stalking.I was aware that Bangkok is known for tourist scams and what to look out for. However, I was unaware of the level of organized crime in Bangkok, with the mafia not only scamming tourists but also trying to spike and rob them. Both male and female. I ended up being in a dangerous situation and I am putting this video out there to raise awareness of dangers, and what not to do while being in the capital of Thailand. After staying in Bangkok for a while I have realized that Khaosan is not the most dangerous area and neighborhood of Bangkok, the area most affected by crime is in fact Soi Lat Phrao, Chatuchak District. Even though so far this year Soi Lat Phrao experienced the highest number of crimes, being the most violent hood with knife crime and anti-social behavior, it is not the only area that’d be considered Thailand’s ghetto and slums. I went to several of them. It was interesting for me to learn that the locals also find many areas of Bangkok dangerous, including the ones that they live in. However in the end I also wanted to show you some beautiful places in Bangkok such as the floating market, the weekend market, Wat Arun and Wat Pho temples. I believe there is a lot to Bangkok, plenty of things to do and see, to experience the Thai culture. I would just suggest doing research on the area you are staying in and being very conscious of the scammers as those, unfortunately, can be found in all areas of the city. My Intense & Complicated Journey from Krabi to Koh Tao Thailand Ola Lily 2022-09-21 | How to travel from Krabi to Koh Tao? Well, it’s complicated, especially if you are traveling with a suitcase in Thailand. The journey to Ko Tao involves many changes, including a minivan, bus, speedboat and ferry. The suitcase facilities aren’t the greatest, to put it bluntly, there is often not enough space for the tourists’ cases on public transport in Thailand. The journey also seemed disorganised. I started from Ao Nang beach in Krabi (hotel pickup was the nicest thing about it). Later drove to Krabi Town, took a coach to Surat Thani, a speedboat to Koh Phangan and a catamaran ferry to Ko Tao. At least it was certainly worth it in the end as Koh Tao is my top favourite island in Thailand and the accommodation I stayed at was AMAZING. It’s not so easy being a solo female traveler in Thailand sometimes. Especially when you struggle to lift your heavy suitcase. I hope you enjoy me turning my helplessness into a comedy video. Solo Female Living in Krabi, Thailand (Railay) 🇹🇭 Ola Lily 2022-08-04 | My life as a solo female living in Krabi in Thailand. Today I visit the best and most beautiful beach in the world called Railay Beach, on a traditional longtail boat. I meet many locals, expats and travellers and decide to do a 4 islands tour in Krabi, going to Phra Nang Cave, also known as the Princess Cave, which was a very weird experience. It is a fertility temple. Afterwards I went snorkelling by Koh Poda Island, sailing to Chicken Island and walking along the sandbar at Koh Tub (Tup Island) and Koh Mor, which is the Krabi’s version of the most famous viewpoint in Ko Tao called Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint. It was the most amazing experience. My solo female traveller life is going very well. Leaving Phuket and Moving to Krabi… Solo Female Thailand 🇹🇭 Ola Lily 2022-07-30 | Moving to Krabi from Phuket, Thailand. Solo female travels, getting the bus from Patong to Ao Nang Beach, Krabi. Today is finally the time to leave Phuket and move to Krabi. To my surprise and happiness, I find out that I can arrange a hotel pickup in Patong to Ao Nang Beach in Krabi where I’m going to move. It’s a great help for me since I am travelling in Thailand with a large suitcase. The journey costs 650 baht, however, it’s not a peaceful journey which I could sleep on as I hoped for, as I had… 5 changes! At last, I get to Krabi and decide to stay at the Krabi Forest Homestay, a beautiful bungalow by the beach. This is going to be my new home. I tell you everything about the bus journey from Phuket to Krabi. The pros and cons of living in Krabi vs. Patong. And later I go to Ao Nang beach with the drone. The beach is amazing, cliffs and rock formations here really remind me of what a true heaven paradise might look like. I am so glad I’ve moved to Krabi! Living that bikini life. Big Buddha, Phuket Thailand & Kata Noi Beach [4k] Drone 🇹🇭 Ola Lily 2022-07-11 | Beside nightlife in Phuket, Thailand, Big Buddha and Kata Noi Beach are the two must-do and must-visit places during your travels to the island. Big Buddha is the statue uphill that requires a mountain drive or a hike to get to the top – but it’s certainly worth it. The view of the ocean and Phuket city are breathtaking there. Whereas Kata Noi Beach is rated the top best beach in Phuket on Google, and rightly so, it's magical and beautiful. I went there with my friends and filmed the places using the DJI drone with 4k footage so that I could really show you Big Buddha and Kata Noi Beach in Phuket in their true beauty. As you can see we had so much fun there!This is one of my last days in Phuket during my solo female travels across Thailand. I will be going to Krabi next, but I am very glad I have discovered the Big Buddha and Kata Noi Beach before I travel further. And the company of my two friends who I met through Couchsurfing made everything even better.
