When it comes to Telltale Games there are two titles that stand lonely at the top of their best entries. Those are The Walking Dead Season 1 and The Wolf Among us. I would actually argue that Wolf Among Us is their best title with superb writing, amazing atmosphere and insane twists and turns.
This is based on the Fables graphic novels and the story takes place in modern times as we follow several famous characters from different fairytales. We play as Bigby Wolf who is the local sheriff in town. After a suspicious murder has occured, we need to put our detective hats on and unravel the mystery of what happened.
The noir detective atmosphere is absolutely amazing and the characters are all so well written, voice acted and memorable. The tempo and pacing are great and the familiar characters from different stories also bring a unique feeling of nostalgia.
Telltale Games always pretend like many of the choices have drastically different consequences. And the truth is that the story barely changes. Maybe one or two scenes play differently, but you always end up in the same point again. But Wolf Among Us is so well written that it does not actually matter that your choices have little impact. This game is an absolute must play for anyone who is into story driven games and adventures.
