The UK Government is consulting on proposals that could affect how news and public service content is promoted on platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. As an independent creator who has spent years building BrownCarGuy through hard work, I believe this matters to every creator and every viewer.

YouTube recently encouraged creators to engage with this consultation, and that’s exactly why I’ve made this video.
The consultation explores whether traditional broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and others should receive greater prominence on social media and video-sharing platforms.
I believe trust should be earned through quality journalism, transparency, expertise and relevance, not simply because one publisher is given preferential visibility over another.
This isn’t just about BrownCarGuy.
It’s about every independent YouTuber, journalist, reviewer, educator, podcaster, blogger, TikTok creator and specialist voice who has finally been able to compete on something approaching a level playing field.
Most importantly, it’s about your right to decide what you watch.
If you value independent creators and believe audiences should choose what succeeds, please take a few minutes to complete the Government consultation and make your voice heard.
Please like, comment and share this video so more creators and viewers become aware of what’s happening.
