Self- Writeousness | The Song We Wrote (Thank You - Sorry) @SelfWriteousness | Uploaded April 2021 | Updated October 2024, 22 minutes ago.
Many years ago in an land called New York, there lived a man named Cole Porter who prided himself on writing songs without a partner in an era of outstanding writerly teams (the likes of Rogers and Hart, Lerner and Lowe, Leonard Bernstien and any New Yorker who could pick up a pencil--).
It is said of Mr. Porter that at one or another time in his life, he was not yet finished with a song called "Just One of Those Things" and shared what he had of it at a party.
"...a trip to the moon on [blah, blah, blah] wings," sang he at the time, for an appropriate 3 syllable word.
Shortly thereafter, another guest piped up and said "How would you feel about 'gossamer wings,' Mr. Porter?"
Mr. Porter loved it, put it in, and it is a part of that song to this day (without which, a million sweethearts could realistically have taken "...a trip to the moon on *buffalo* wings." My kind of romance, truth be told).
Some time later, that same man met Mr. Porter in passing and asked, "So how's *our* song doing?"
I think we can safely say the song on this video is our song, for you Dear Viewers did not contribute 1 word to this project (as did the man in the Cole Porter story) but 20.
Thank you most kindly for your help, and as always, should you not like the resulting song, I would be honored to here the song with which *you* come up given the same word collection ;)
