In 2001, Anou, grandson of a Laotian aristocratic family exiled in 1975, returns to his homeland for the first time. By sheer coincidence, he stumbles upon his family’s old house—and a former employee of his grandmother’s silk workshop.
What begins as a personal journey becomes a mission: to revive a near-forgotten legacy of excellence in natural silk weaving. With ancestral techniques and organic dyes, Anou builds a new future for Laotian silk.
Today, his creations are admired by designers in New York and Paris, and his grandmother, now in Australia, follows each collection via Skype. This is a story of exile, rediscovery, and the invisible thread of heritage.
