AM5 CPUs are dominant in both gaming performance and productivity in 2025, but for the budget-conscious gamer it's always worth looking at previous generations. That being said, the 7000 series offers some of the best bang for buck on a modern platform. The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is my personal favourite for gaming, but the 7700 adds two extra cores for those who need them, and at £160 or less, it's almost a no-brainer.
