Part 2 of my look into the Roland MT-32. Here we focus on what the MT-32 was designed for; a synthesizer to be hooked up to a keyboard! No life changing music here, I'm just going from instrument to instrument to see what they sound like. Feel free to check out part 1 where I look at the MT-32 as a computer sound device, but there is no continuity between the two parts.

The Roland MT-32 was a late 1980's synthesyser marketed primarily toward home users, with quite a bit of features stripped from more professional offers from Roland. It was still a rather expensive device for the amateur audience, and reviews were not kind to the background noise it produced or its inability to produce a convincing piano sound. It used a combination of samples and syntheses, using uploaded samples of actual instruments for the attack and drums, while using synthesis for the sustain. This was dubbed as "LA Synthesis".
