There is a restorative beauty to simple summer days and female friendship. Earlier this year in January I travelled to Far North Queensland to visit my friend Sophie. There was something special about this place — the calm that flowed from running creeks, the placid ocean gurgling against the shore, the Ulysses butterflies, singing birds and wise trees. The Daintree Rainforest, the ancient and indigenous roots of this land, home to the Kuku Yalanji people. We found stillness together here. Spaciousness for us to open our hearts and stretch our minds. It felt like a resting point, somewhere to renew and replenish. Together, our future dreams blossomed and past pains were soothed. Slowly, we equalised in the company of one another, walking on country every day— listening to nature’s song and the rhythm that rose between us. So Yalada, welcome to this video — I think this one is a little different to my usual videos. It’s something between a vlog— a podcast—and a stream of consciousness flowing through themes of simplicity, routine, love and being a sensitive, creative human being. I hope you enjoy it.
