Surprisingly I actually felt like editing something!
I've had some kind of inspo to edit with this song ever since I first heard it, specifically this part. But I never got around to really trying anything with it.
Yesterday I found myself listening to it again, and I was suddenly hit with some visions of clips that could fit for this part, and that's when I felt like I could try to make a video out of that.
Not ever clip clicked with me, however. Last night I simply set a few clips and left it at that. Today, I came back to this project and started to see new clip ideas for it, and slowly after, also effect ideas, and I already could think of what I wanted my main focus to be. I decided that I wanted a lot of overlay based transitions and I wanted them to make as natural looking as I could. And I also wanted the overlays to fit what was actually in the clip at that point, if I could.
I began editing the middle of the edit first, with the fire and feather transition (honestly those parts turned out to be my fave here, along with the rest until the ending), and then made my way to the part before the outro. Then I worked on the beginning next, and then after partly finishing that, went to create an outro. Theeeen I jumped back to the beginning once more, and I honestly feel like by that point I had lost the touch that I had in the edit.
I decided to bring in After Effects for one clip, because I wanted to add some particles, and attempt to make a parallax kind of thing, but I failed. Still, I decided to keep the attempt because I liked how the particles looked. I wanted to make another attempt with the very first clip, but I scrapped that idea bc I didn't like how it was turning out to look, plus it wasn't exactly working. The particles you already see there are simply ones from an overlay I created long ago.
When making this I really wanted to capture the intensity of the song, aand I feel like I might've succeeded in doing so?
A thing that I tried out here for the first time was BCC Video Glitch and I actually quite like that plugin now, I feel ^^
I also tried out some overlays that, to my surprise, I've had for a while, but never used before.
Now it's time for some fun facts I guess! Oh joy XD
I actually didn't add a coloring to this video (minus fixing the colors on like 2 clips here), I simply sharpened it, and added b&w here and there. I suppose the overlays ended up creating a soft kind of coloring on their own. ^^
The ''hold the line'' text at 0:08 is inspired by some text I created for a gifset of mine a while back ^^
Ah, and this video was originally supposed to be longer. Like, the part that's in the outro would've been a continuation of the video and the outro would only begin once the sound of the song started changing again. I cut the video time down to this bc I knew that I wouldn't have any inspiration for anything longer than this right now ^^''
Another thing was that this video actually started off as being in 30 fps, but I thought that some scenes with overlays looked a bit choppy, and as such, I began to try and make this 60 fps. First I simply set the project's fps to 60 in the properties but yeeaah that didn't go well bc the clips then had these annoying pauses that came quickly. I then thought of a way to make it 60 fps without hassle, which was to simply open Vegas again like, a new window, and create a 60 fps project, and then simply copy and paste what I had already done, into it. That way the project was now 60 fps without any extra problems ^^
The line of text would've been too long for the outro, but well, specifically I used Crisis Core, Advent Children, and a bit of the FFVIIR trailer here ^^
Also this took 16 minutes and 10 seconds to render, which is a great time ^^
The only thing I'm a bit disappointed with is that the spacing between ''programs'' and ''media'' during the outro ended up being mismatched with everything else, but oh well I suppose ^^''
