Hello to all the Final Fantasy and RPG fans out there. Welcome to my compilation video of my long-form, deep-dive retrospective videos of the PlayStation One Final Fantasy trilogy. This video is primarily a compilation of my existing Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX videos, but with a few changes made here and there to avoid me repeating myself, and about 25 to 30 minutes of extra content added to the older Final Fantasy IX video.

Here we will explore how the dawn of 3D games transformed Squaresoft from a successful sixteen-bit studio in Japan into a global powerhouse, look at how Final Fantasy became a worldwide success, how these three games, in particular, came to hold a special place in the hearts of an entire generation, and why they are still considered the very peak of what the series has to offer.

Of course, we’ll also be diving into the stories, characters and all the interesting themes that these games explore, as well as getting nostalgic for old pre-rendered backgrounds and blocky low-poly graphics. So, if that sounds like a good time to you, then let’s jump into almost 8 and a half hours of retro gaming goodness.
