The argument as to where the Etruscans came from has been going on for a very long time. Ancient writers thought they had come to the Italian peninsula from Anatolia or the Aegean. But more recent DNA studies have found an unexpected origin for this civilisation that sparred with the Romans before being completely absorbed into their culture.
