While tangled up, Rudolph attempted to pull off Garrett's helmet. Enraged, Garrett stood up and forcibly ripped Rudolph’s helmet off his head. As Rudolph charged back toward him, Garrett swung the heavy helmet, striking Rudolph directly on the top of his unprotected head. Steelers offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey immediately retaliated by tackling Garrett, punching him, and kicking his helmet.
