JOE HORN CELL PHONE TD CELEBRATION 😂

On December 14, 2003, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn pulled off one of the most iconic and controversial touchdown celebrations in NFL history. After scoring a second-quarter touchdown against the New York Giants, Horn retrieved a hidden flip phone from underneath the padding of the goalpost.

Horn's kids could not attend the Sunday night game because they had school the next morning. Before leaving, he promised them he would "call them" during the game if he scored. Saints teammate Michael Lewis helped stash Horn's actual cell phone behind the goalpost padding before the game. The stunt resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and a hefty $30,000 fine from the NFL. The league heavily restricted prop-based celebrations shortly after. Fifteen years later, in 2018, Saints receiver Michael Thomas paid homage to Horn by executing the exact same flip phone celebration against the Los Angeles Rams.
