Quantum computing's biggest breakthroughs start with mathematics. Theories that were posited over a century ago are now driving major impact across the field — and it's mathematics that continues to lead the way.
At the Centre for Quantum Mathematics, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Professor Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen has built a hub for quantum mathematics research, backed by a government centre-of-excellence grant and an advisory board that includes six Fields Medalists. Researchers here are working on fault-tolerant quantum computing, new quantum algorithms, and applications reaching into medicine, energy, and finance — including collaborations with Novo Nordisk on drug discovery.
