I review the 31st Republic cliffhanger serial: THE MASKED MARVEL. Chock full of great action, this is a good example of Republic’s serial division at its full might. The story has the fun haha of the masked hero with multiple possible suspects to be the real identity plus a crafty villain instead of the usual wartime enemy caricature. The plot is a bit simplistic which keeps this from being one of the studio’s best serials but it remains extremely well done.
Sadly given the pitifully woeful preservation of classic serials by studio owners the only official release from a studio element scan is this 1985 dual VHS release from direct print scans.
