Jesus was not instructing His Church to keep the logs in their eyes and leave the specs in their brothers' eyes. He wants you to address the log in your own eye, then go on to address the spec in your brother, or sister's, eye. Addressing your own shortcomings is the best preparation for helping others. The process of repentance equips us with the compassion and wisdom necessary to speak truth into someone else's life. Your personal change opens the door for healthy accountability in the church.
