Playthrough with Kojiroh. Kojiroh is interesting because she’s pretending to be her deceased brother. Her real name is Kaori. If you didn’t know, the PlayStation port of the first Last Blade game had an extra character called Kojiroh, who storyline wise was killed off. In this game, Kaori is hunting down her brother’s killer.
The Last Blade 2 was released in 1998. I’m no expert but it appears to be more of the same but better, and there’s nothing wrong with that! It adds several new characters including the criminally underused Setsuna. The controls are almost the same as before other than changing how you do throws, as you now have to press the C and D buttons together.
The CPU was made slightly more difficult in the first game, but that’s nothing compared to the final boss, who is one of SNK’s worst. I feel like I say that a lot. But Kouryu is a great example of how not to do a boss fight, especially in 1998. I made him look fairly easy here but he is a complete nightmare, he can take half your life with just two moves.
Another problem is that when played in English, there’s no blood in this game, and the fatalities are disabled. And surprisingly, there’s no blood code either! Why SNK still thought this kind of censorship was still required in 1998 is a bit of a mystery, at this point games like Resident Evil had been released, which were far more violent than this. The first game didn’t censor anything, so why did the sequel?
No more Last Blade games were released for the Neo Geo after this one. The series got a Neo Geo Pocket game and that’s it. There have been rumors a Last Blade 3 was in development for the Neo Geo, but it got cancelled. This site has a very brief mention about the game, which states it was shown privately to distributors:

It also states the game was 60% complete. No screenshots of a Last Blade 3 have ever been seen, so who knows what happened to it.
