Playthrough with Moriya. Compared to the Neo Geo CD port of the first game, this is almost as bad load time wise, in fact it's actually worse in one area. The load times after the intro poses are done are far longer than they were before. This does, at least, no longer have load times between each round. The game's story mode has less fights to do than the original game. In the first game there were 10 stages, in this there are only 8. I imagine this was a deliberate choice by SNK to help the CD version not go on for too long.
The CD version has voice acting for certain cutscenes, which the AES version didn't have. It also has some extras, like an ending viewer and the ability to play as Musashi. Musashi was the previous game's sub boss, he's not in the AES version at all, but can be used in two player matches in the CD port.
Disappointingly, this version doesn’t have any blood, and as far as I know there is no blood code. If you are playing it on a Japanese console there’s no issue of course, but it’s kind of surprising that the previous game was uncensored but this one was. It was 1998, did it really matter any more?
The boss of this game is a pain. My advice is to try and keep him away from you, then try spamming the strong slash version of Moriya's rekka chain, the boss tends to let himself get hit by that a lot. I even managed to get a perfect on him in the first round using this method.
