Every year, thousands of tourists visit Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark. Most go to see Parliament and the Supreme Court, which are housed in the palace. But horse fans will want to make their way to the rear of the palace to visit the Royal Stables, home to the famous Kladruber Horses that pull the Queen's carriage. The Kladruber breed is more than 450 years old, making it one of the oldest and rarest of all breeds. Kladrubers originated in the Czech Republic. With their high-stepping, and gait and musculature, they were bred specifically to pull carriages. In 1994, the Royal Family acquired six young Kladrubers. The Royal Stables are open every day from 1:30 to 4 p.m. (in July 10 am to 5 pm). But if you're lucky, like me you can see them out in the pasture.
