The History of Two Best Friends Play Resident Evil, from December of 2011 to January of 2017. Please read the description for more information on this video and the path it took to get to publication.

--------------------

**Important Note**
As I'll explain below, this video is likely to get an updated version down the line, so it will remain an active project until then.

Also I want to say here: this isn't a video where I just threw all existing edits together. I went through each edit and condensed them to what I felt were the best or most important moments of each lp/edit.

History of "The History of" Video:

January 2018 - May 2018:
During this time I started toying with the idea for this video. I started working on a possible intro for the video, and started developing the idea of the typewriter transitions.

June 2018:
When the first Resident Evil 2 Remake trailer released, I took my idea seriously enough to dive into my existing edits and I condensed each one down to fit into a single edit. I also decided to tie in the RE2 trailer into the video, to make for a fitting conclusion. I decided in this month to make the video a giant promo for the eventual TBFP RE2 Remake lp.

July 2018:
They started their TBFP Resident Evil 5 playthrough on the same day I released the first of what was a planned series of mysterious RE videos leading up to an eventual August publication of the main video (You can't find the mysterious RE videos, they are deleted now).

August 2018:
After a few mysterious videos are published, I decide to stop releasing them. The Resident Evil 5 lp is throwing too much of a fire axe into my plans. I eventually decide to not release the "History of" video in August and moved it to a likely Christmas release (still enough time then to act as a promo for the RE2 Remake lp.)

September-November 2018:
The video sits on the shelf, and I only work on it for minor edits. I don't have time to work in the RE5 lp, so it gets left out.

December 2018:
SBFP break up. It's at this point I have no idea how to proceed, so I don't.

January 25, 2019:
Resident Evil 2 Remake releases. I decide this is the best day to publish the "History of" video, although it now releases under much different circumstances from when I originally came up with the idea.

--------------------

Purpose of the History of video:

Originally it was meant to be just a chronological history. Nothing too special.

When the RE2 Remake trailer released, I wanted to make it a giant promo for their eventual LP.

When they broke up, it turned into an accidental tribute to tbfp Resident Evil.

--------------------

Why Resident Evil 5 isn't in the current video:

I haven't had time, one reason. The other reason is I felt the RE7 lp was a stronger ending to the video than the RE5 lp. But I'd like to work in RE5 into an updated version of this video.

--------------------

Why One-off videos such as Code Veronica/Remake 1/Outbreak/etc aren't included:

I wanted the video to only be about full game lps, as working in the one-offs alongside the full lps wouldn't have flowed as well.

However I would like to find a way to make the one-offs work in an updated version, as the lps themselves aren't exactly the full history.

--------------------

About the typewriter intro/transition sequences:

These are all manually constructed. I didn't use any automatic-type plug-ins or whatever. I wanted the typewriter sequences to feel real, as though someone were actually typing, which meant I had to do it all manually. Minor time variations among characters. Meaning each instance a new character appears on screen, it's a new static image of the same full text image, only masked to reveal the next character.

For example, the first typed sequence is actually ~40 different images played in succession.

The typing sound effects are from RE games, and those also were all manually edited. Again, nothing automatic.

I actually have two classic/old typewriters and at one point was trying to record audio of myself typing out the text, banging on the keys like a jackass, but this wasn't working as well as I wanted it to.

--------------------

About the Future of the History:

I don't know what comes next. But no one really does, I guess.
