Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are such fascinating pieces in Pokemon's history. There are so many bells and whistles in these remakes specifically to work around problems that the games were created in mind with. Gen 3 had time, and all these features to do with it, but they took it out to serve that vision of the original Kanto. So how were those new mechanics going to be squeezed into these titles? In some cases they just weren't- like with Espeon and Umbreon's time of day evolutions. But cases like this, with recurring hidden items, demonstrate a creativity and dedication to problem solving that is infinitely appreciated and fascinating as a player both now and then. I love that this feature exists even though it didn't have to. It's so cool. Even cooler than mudkip! This one's for all the Eevee, Suicune, and Tentacool fans out there.
