The world is broken, lost, and seemingly in perpetual chaos. However, I believe that Jesus sees all the brokenness as the greatest harvest in history.
This is a vital time for every believer to humble ourselves, pray, and seek God's face, asking Him to stir up, and send out His laborers.
I believe that every believer is called to work the field.
The five offices, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, are commissioned by Jesus to equip the saints for the work of ministry, edifying, unifying, teaching, and helping mature the body of Christ. So that we are not tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, knowing and speaking the truth of the Kingdom in love.
Examine the world today, and it's easy to conclude that the world is in utter turmoil, and the sheep are weary and scattered again. Sheep without a shepherd and flock.
A lost sheep is only focused on survival and doesn't know the value of a shepherd until they encounter one. They only know that they are prey to the wolves.
The most dangerous wolves of our time are the wolves who pretend to be sheep, who will sacrifice the souls of their flock for selfish gain.
I believe the Lord is speaking Isaiah 5:20 to His flock, as a warning, to His church, warning every believer in the world to be on the right side of the line He has drawn when the battles rage.
Isaiah 5:20 NKJV
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
The Lord showed me that Matthew 26 describes where the church is currently… asleep on our watch.
Matthew 26:36-46 NKJV
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”
Evil thrives when Christians become complacent and stagnant.
Complacency is lukewarmness and lukewarm stagnant water is putrid and toxic.
We are called to burn… burn scorching hot and flow rivers of living water.
Lord, wake us up and ignite in us with fiery boldness to preach and share the gospel with powers! Let your flames purify us!
Lord, let your rivers of living water flow in and through us, washing out the stagnant waters! Let your living waters flow freely, quenching the thirst of all who are thirsty.
