Royal Marine Major William Martin was entrusted with a mission that bordered on madness: convince Adolf Hitler that the Allies planned to invade Greece, not Sicily. Success meant saving countless lives; failure would doom the entire Mediterranean campaign.
Under cover of darkness on April 19, 1943, Major Martin was secretly brought aboard the British submarine, HMS Seraph. Alone, unescorted, the vessel plunged into waters crawling with enemy patrols. Twice, German bombers zeroed in, raining explosives from above—and twice, Seraph narrowly evaded destruction.
Ten tense days later, fishermen off the coast of Huelva, Spain, spotted Martin near the shore, clutching tightly to a briefcase. Inside were top-secret invasion plans, carefully crafted to deceive the Nazis, mislead Hitler himself, and rewrite history. All he had to do was deliver them.
There was just one little problem.
Major William Martin had been dead for three months.
