Do you buy a lot of parts online? How can you tell if the parts are good quality?
Oh baby, I wish I had a good answer for that question.
I have been buying parts for a long time and getting them online is the easiest way for me to source them. For one thing, on line suppliers seem to have a lot more variety and generally speaking, have the very part I need.
BUT – they are usually made off shore. Now I don't mean to say that off shore manufacturers are all bad or make poor quality. But the point I'm trying to make is how can you tell if the part is 'good' quality?
It seems to me even if you buy a 'brand' name part, the quality can still sometimes be suspect. Brand names can be bought or reproduced unlawfully and placed on just about any part you like. So it's definitely 'buyer beware'.
Now some parts will say 'genuine replacement part' And when you see this then the chances are higher that the part maybe of good quality. But I think it's still a gamble, and the seller of the 'genuine replacement part' is just looking to make some extra money by charging extra for this supposedly higher quality pert.
