In this segment of the Evanston Decides 2025 Candidate Forum, the future of the 2nd Ward took center stage as Council Member Krissie Harris, Jacqueline Mendoza, and Darlene Cannon went head-to-head on the issues that matter most.
One thing was made crystal clear: Council member Krissie Harris is unwavering in her stance on property taxes. She doubled down on her commitment to always raise them—except in the event of a pandemic. This follows the path of her predecessor, former Council Member Peter Braithwaite, who consistently supported tax hikes. But let’s not forget—it was Council Member Tom Suffredin who fought against increasing property taxes during the pandemic.
