After years of looking, I was able to get a very early Sony 3.5 "Micro Floppydisk" from 1983 or early 1984. These disks have quite a few differences compared to later disks, including an oval shutter, different write protect tab, and a shutter lock!

To help put these differences in context I show some of the 3.5 disks in my collection, from the junk cheapie disks available in the early 2000s, back to the high quality (and expensive!) disks from the mid 80s.
