Turn your iPad into a portable Steam Deck monitor with this simple, low-latency setup — perfect for travel, hotel rooms, or any time you want a bigger screen without hauling a TV around. This step-by-step guide shows you how to connect your Steam Deck to an iPad using a Genki HDMI capture card and Genki dock, plus a resolution fix that stops your Steam Deck defaulting to a blurry, pixelated output once it's connected.
Note: Genki has since replaced the ShadowCast 2 and Covert Dock 2 shown in this video with the ShadowCast 3 Pro and Covert Dock 3 (linked above). Both use the same Genki Studio app and setup process covered here, with added 4K/120Hz output. One quirk worth knowing: the Covert Dock 3 doesn't include a stand for handheld PCs, so prop your Steam Deck up separately during longer sessions to keep it cool.
